BLAKE
IVORY APPOINTED ASSISTANT COACH
The committee
are extremely pleased to announce that
Blake Ivory has accepted an offer
to take up the role of Assistant Senior
Coach for the coming season. We firmly
believe that Blake's experience and knowledge
will be a huge benefit to the club as
our 1st eleven move into the WSUCCA turf
competition and the second and third eleven
also step up a grade. Blake will be work
specifically with our bowlers and I'm
sure that our talented young bowlers will
improve significantly under Blake's guidance.
Blake will continue to play with Melton
in the sub-district competition as well
as his other coaching committments with
Melton West Saints Under 16's and Western
Spirit representative teams.
JUNIOR

1 Under 14 and 1 Under 16 team.
Expressions
of interest should be made to Michael
Scilini on 0408 477 232.

and accreditation is provided to all junior

NETS
FOR MT CARBERRY
Melton
Shire Council announced their final budget
on Monday 22 June 2009 which included
funding for cricket nets to be contructed
at Mt Carberry. It is hoped that the nets
will be ready by October 2009. Senior
and junior players will certainly appreciate
the improved training facilities.

has been successful in obtaining a grant
from the Melton Shire Council for an honour
board to be erected in the clubrooms.
We hope to have it in place for the start
of the new season.
SENIOR
COACH RE-APPOINTED
The committee
are happy to report that senior coach,
Leigh Edwards, has been re-appointed
for the next two seasons. Congratulations
Leigh on a great first year as senior
coach and good luck with the challenges
ahead as we head into a new season with
our first eleven moving into the WSUCCA
turf competition.
DOUBLE
PREMIERSHIP CELEBRATIONS
Melton
South Are Premiers in A & C Grade
Both
A and C Grade won their respective grand
finals very comfortably topping off an
enormously successful year for the club
on and off the field.
In A grade
Melton South defeated Werribee Centrals
by 9 wickets. Werribee Centrals won the
toss and batted first only to be bowled
out in the 63rd over for 119. The major
wicket takers for South being man-of-the-match,
Domonic Grero, with 4/40 from 26.4
magnificent overs and he was superbly
supported by Zac Giblett with 3/13
from 10 overs. Darren Beckett taking
the other wicket whilst Leigh Edwards
and Richard Catlin combined for
2 run outs.
In reply
South only lost the one wicket, that of
Zac Giblett, off the last ball
of day 1. Leigh Edwards and Michael
Garwood resumed on day 2 with the
score on 1/5 and as they had done many
times throughout the season guided South
safely to victory. Leigh finished
on 61 not out whilst Chooka was
unbeaten on 55.
Melton South
took on Footscray United in the C Grade
grand final and were victors by 142 runs.
South won the toss and batted first compiling
237 runs from 51 overs after a shaky start.
The mainstay of the innings was man-of-the-match,
Dale Jenkinson, who batted magnificently,
displaying controlled power making an
unbeaten 96, which included 8 fours and
4 sixes. Good support came from Mitchell
Robertson(42), Andrew Axford(41)
and Glen Axford(20).
United had
18 overs to face to complete day 1 but
it was South grabbing the iniative finishing
the first day having United on the back
foot at 4/40. Day 2 saw United start more
resolutely moving to 79 before Andrew
Hunter got the breakthrough which
began a major collapse which saw United
loose its last 6 wickets for only 16 runs.
The destroyer for South was Andrew
Hunter who took 5/21 from 12 overs
with great support from a young bloke
that is making a habit of stepping up
and performing in grand finals, Mitchell
Robertson who took 3/19 with run outs
to Andrew Hunter and Dave Lambert.
